Delhi HC Bans Honey Singh & Badshah’s 2006 Track Volume 1 Over Offensive Lyrics
The Delhi High Court has issued a complete ban on Honey Singh and Badshah's 2006 track Volume 1, directing its removal from all platforms.
The Court ordered social media platforms, YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming services to block the song entirely.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav stated that even small clips or partial lyrics of the song should not be available online.
he Court highlighted that the song's lyrics are offensive, dehumanising, and normalise treating women as objects of ridicule and sexual gratification.
The ban followed a petition by Hindu Shakti Dal demanding the removal of the song from all digital platforms.
Honey Singh performed some lines from Volume 1 at a recent concert, confirming the song’s content and reigniting the controversy.
The Bench described the song as disturbing and stated that its content shook the conscience of the Court.
The matter is scheduled to be heard further on Tuesday, 7 May 2026 for additional proceedings.
