Mittal pointed out that India skipped gradual media evolution, moving rapidly from traditional entertainment to algorithm-driven platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. He shared a personal anecdote about his 7-year-old child, who starts with educational content like Peppa Pig but quickly gets caught in a “vortex of glitchy animation and algorithmic chaos.”
Criticizing the dominance of social media platforms that monetize attention, Anupam Mittal raised concerns about the social and developmental impacts. “We’re raising a generation that doesn’t play. Teens that don’t talk. Adults that don’t think—just scroll,” he said.
