Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par to Stream on YouTube, Not OTT Giants
In a first-of-its-kind move for Bollywood, Aamir Khan is set to release his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube Pay-Per-View (PPV), bypassing traditional OTT giants like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+.

The film, which hits theatres on June 20, will later be available online through YouTube’s PPV model — allowing viewers to pay once and watch, without requiring any subscription.
This marks the first major Bollywood film to take this direct-to-consumer digital route. By opting out of OTT deals, Aamir Khan reportedly aims to retain full control over pricing, release schedules, and viewer data, while also maximizing revenue without platform commissions.
Directed by R.S. Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par tackles the important issue of mental health, a theme that Khan wants to reach as many people as possible. The cast includes Genelia Deshmukh, Vedant Sharma, Simran Mangeshkar, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Brijendra Kala.
Industry insiders believe this bold distribution model could reshape how Indian films are released digitally, offering more independence to creators and new opportunities for small-budget and independent films to reach wide audiences without intermediaries.
As Aamir Khan charts a new course, all eyes will be on how Sitaare Zameen Par performs both at the box office and through this unconventional digital release strategy.
