The yoga session was held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Thursday. Along with CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, officers and staff of the Chief Minister’s Office also performed Yoga on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister exhorted the people of the state to make Yoga a part of their daily routine.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Yoga is not just a physical exercise but a process of inner peace and self-realisation. It is a means of stabilizing our mind and reaching the depths of consciousness. Highlighting the importance of Indian culture, he said that India has always kept human values paramount and Yoga is the basic pillar of our Sanatan culture. That is why today Yoga has become an integral part of the daily routine of crores of people of the world and is making the Indian way of life iconic on the global stage.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that in 2014, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had proposed in the United Nations General Assembly to recognize Yoga as an International Day, which was supported by 177 countries and 21st June was declared as International Yoga Day. “Uttarakhand is the land of yoga and sages. All people up to the village level are associated with yoga, efforts have been made in this direction by the government. Employment opportunities are being increased through Yoga.
