Orry Admits Starving Himself to Lose 23 Kilos | Why Starving Isn’t a Weight Loss Solution
Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, has sparked concern after revealing the drastic steps he took to shed over 20 kilos in his pursuit of fame. In a conversation on Screen, the social media influencer admitted to starving himself in 2023 — a confession that has reignited debate around body image, fame, and the unhealthy extremes many young public figures go to for visibility. “I Starved Myself” — Orry Gets Honest About His Extreme Weight Loss Methods
Known for his omnipresence at celebrity events and viral social media presence, Orry opened up about his physical transformation, driven by a desire to become famous. “At the beginning of 2023, I was really fat. I was really large. I was 70-something kilos. And this is pre-Ozempic. And it’s the year I decided to get famous,” he said. “But you can’t be fat and famous.”
Describing his unhealthy routine, he added: “I really starved myself. Some days, I’d wake up with neck pain because I’d fall asleep on the toilet after throwing up my dinner.”
Despite acknowledging the toll it took, Orry said the results mattered more: “Technically, that’s cheating — but I did what I had to do to get where I wanted.”
Health Experts Sound the Alarm
Medical professionals have expressed serious concern over Orry’s revelations, warning that starvation diets are not only unsustainable but also dangerous.
“When you deprive your body of essential nutrients, it doesn’t just affect your weight — it impacts your entire physical and mental health,” said Dr. Aarti Sharma, a Delhi-based nutritionist. “You might see short-term results, but the long-term consequences can be severe.”
Common risks associated with starvation include:
-
Nutritional Deficiencies – Cutting calories drastically often leads to a lack of vital vitamins and minerals.
-
Slowed Metabolism – A chronically low energy intake slows down metabolic processes, making weight management more difficult later.
-
Muscle Loss – Without sufficient fuel, the body breaks down muscle tissue for energy, leading to physical weakness.
-
Hormonal Imbalances – Starvation can disrupt hormone production, affecting mood, reproductive health, and energy levels.
-
Mental Health Decline – Starving yourself can trigger anxiety, depression, poor concentration, and mood swings.
-
Digestive Problems – Low-calorie intake can lead to constipation, bloating, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
-
Weakened Immunity – Nutrient deficiencies impair the immune system, increasing fatigue and susceptibility to illness.
Fame, Image, and Unrealistic Expectations
Orry’s belief that fame demands thinness — “no one wants to see a fat, 5-foot boy on TV” — points to toxic ideals still prevalent in media and entertainment. Experts fear such statements, especially from influential personalities, could encourage harmful behaviors among impressionable audiences.
“When someone with a platform endorses harmful habits, even unintentionally, it can normalize those behaviors,” said Dr. Sharma. “This is especially risky when young people are already vulnerable to body image issues.”
The Healthy Route to Weight Loss
While the desire to change one’s appearance is valid, health professionals stress the importance of doing so safely. A well-balanced diet, regular exercise, and mental well-being form the foundation of sustainable weight loss — not starvation or crash dieting.
Extreme approaches may yield quick results, but they often lead to long-term health complications and weight regain. More importantly, they compromise overall well-being in the process.
