Under the Punjab Government’s ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign, the District Administration, in collaboration with the District Police, took action against illegal encroachments by demolishing the unauthorized house of a drug peddler in Nainowal Vaid. The Village Panchayat witnessed and welcomed this decisive move.
Action Against Encroachment
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik revealed that Gurmeet Kaur, wife of Balwinder Singh, had unlawfully occupied Panchayat land despite repeated warnings. Acting on complaints from the Village Panchayat, the District Development and Panchayats Officer intervened, leading to the scheduled demolition.
Ongoing Crackdown on Drug Traffickers
Highlighting the stringent measures against drug peddlers, SSP Malik noted that Gurmeet Kaur had been involved in eight NDPS cases, with convictions in three. He reaffirmed that the Hoshiarpur Police remains dedicated to eliminating the drug menace, having already seized drug peddlers’ properties worth over ₹25 crore.
Campaign Achievements
Providing insights into the ongoing anti-drug drive launched on March 1, SSP Malik reported that the district police had registered 128 FIRs, arrested 191 accused, and confiscated:

He assured that the crackdown on drug trafficking will persist to dismantle drug networks and curb the menace in the district.
