In a swift and decisive move under the state’s ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh,’ launched on the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Lady Constable Amandeep Kaur (Belt No. 621/MNS) has been dismissed from service for her involvement in a drug case, informed Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill on Thursday.
The dismissal follows her arrest by the Sadar Bathinda Police, led by SHO Anubhav Jain, after 17.71 grams of heroin were seized from a black Mahindra Thar (registration number PB 05 AQ 7720) she was driving. Her vehicle was also impounded. At the time of the incident, Amandeep Kaur was temporarily posted at Police Lines, Bathinda.
IGP Gill stated that the Punjab Government, under CM Bhagwant Mann, has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards drug-related offenses involving police personnel. Accordingly, SSP Mansa Bhagirath Meena acted swiftly to terminate Amandeep Kaur’s services after completing the necessary legal process.
He further mentioned that an investigation into the assets and properties owned by the accused is underway. If any assets are found to have been acquired through illegal means, strict legal action will be taken.
Additionally, SSP Bathinda Amneet Kondal has been directed to conduct a comprehensive investigation to trace both backward and forward links in the case to expose the full network involved.
