Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development Dr. Baljit Kaur, the Poshan Pakhwara will be celebrated by the department from March 9 to March 23 across the state.
The Cabinet Minister stated that the Poshan Pakhwara aims to focus on the health and well-being of severely malnourished (SAM) and partially malnourished (MAM) children. Poshan Pakhwara aims to comprehensively improve nutrition outcomes among pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under 6 years of age.
Dr. Baljit Kaur mentioned that the services of various departments will be utilized to execute this campaign on a large scale.
The minister highlighted that activities during the Poshan Pakhwara will include promoting breastfeeding and providing a complete diet, fostering healthy child development, nutritional education, improving nutrition through life missions, “My Soil My Country” initiatives, spreading nutrition awareness among people and addressing anemia through testing, treatment and dialogue.
Furthermore, special emphasis will be placed on raising awareness about anemia and proper hygiene. The initiative aims to educate individuals about the importance of exercise, environmental improvement and maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet.
The minister stressed that women and the general public will be encouraged to actively participate in various activities, workshops and initiatives geared towards ensuring the health and well-being of children.
