Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said that the Waqf (Amendement) Act,2025 will play a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, and Sabka Vishwas. The main objective of this act is to benefit the poor, helpless, and underprivileged members of the Muslim community. The act will bring greater transparency to Waqf properties and help prevent arbitrary encroachments and misuse, said Sh. Nayab Saini while addressing the ‘Waqf Reform and Public Awareness Campaign Conference’ at the BJP office Panchkamal in Panchkula on Thursday.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister termed the Modi government’s decision on caste-based census as historic and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. During the conference, the Chief Minister also criticized the Congress party, stating that the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 has caused discomfort to Congress. He said that earlier, the Waqf law was misused by influential individuals, but now its benefits will reach the poor, underprivileged sections, and women of the Muslim community. This act will help uplift the weaker sections of the Muslim society and give them a new lease on life. It will also protect the rights of communities like the Bohras, Ahmadis, and others, said CM Nayab Singh Saini.
He further shared that under the new law, monuments protected by the Archaeology Department will be excluded from the purview of Waqf. The Act ensures equal rights for both men and women, whereas the previous law offered no rights to women.
The Chief Minister said that the introduction of the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 has angered land mafias, corrupt individuals, and those who engage in appeasement politics. During the Congress era, the benefits of Waqf properties were divided among the corrupt, but now these benefits will also reach widows, divorced women, and orphans. The Waqf Board was originally established for the welfare of society, but due to Congress’s flawed policies, it turned into one of the country’s biggest scams, said CM Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister said that during the Congress era, even areas within Delhi’s Lutyens Zone were declared as Waqf property. There are numerous examples from states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana, where the Waqf Board arbitrarily encroached upon land. He stated that with the implementation of this new law, the exploitative and appeasement-based politics of Congress and its allies will come to an end. The Modi government at the Centre has undertaken a public welfare initiative by reforming the Waqf law, said CM Nayab Singh Saini.
The Chief Minister said that the Modi government formulates policies keeping the welfare of all in mind. The amended Waqf law will promote gender equality and ensure the participation of all communities within the Muslim society. Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that Congress is trying to protect its vote bank, which is why it is spreading misinformation about the Waqf Amendment Act.
He said that Congress has always relied on falsehoods. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, Congress created a false narrative about the Constitution being changed, but now the people of the country and the state have understood Congress’s intentions. The public has begun to dismiss Congress entirely, said the Chief Minister.
Modi Government’s Decision on Caste-Based Census is Historic
CM Nayab Singh while addressing the press conference after the ‘Waqf Reform and Public Awareness Campaign Conference’, termed the Modi Cabinet’s decision on caste-based census historic and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. He said that most political parties have also supported this decision.
CM Nayab Singh said that the Prime Minister is continuously correcting the mistakes of Congress. Targeting Congress, the Chief Minister said that Congress had opposed the inclusion of caste in the 2011 census, and at that time, the then Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram, had said that the counting of castes would not be included in the census but would be conducted separately.
CM Nayab Singh said that Congress did not resolve the issues. He said that the Modi government has taken concrete steps to rectify Congress’s past mistakes for the public good. In 2013, Congress hastily brought the Waqf Act to the Lok Sabha, which resulted in losses to the country and the Muslim community. The Waqf Act of 2013 had many flaws, which the Modi government has now addressed, said the Chief Minister.
Explaining the difference in the working styles of BJP and Congress, CM Nayab Singh said that Congress conducts its work with the vote bank as the central focus, while Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi works with the nation as the center of focus. Congress makes laws based on the vote bank, whereas the BJP government makes laws with the nation at the center.
Opposition Parties are Trying to Confuse the Public: Mohan Lal Badoli
BJP’s State President, Sh. Mohan Lal Badoli said that the amended Waqf Law will ensure that the rights of the poor, especially the poor Muslim brothers and sisters, are protected. He emphasized that the new Waqf Law will primarily benefit the poor Muslims. He said that this amended law will prove to be a solid step by the BJP towards ensuring the systematic use and transparency of Waqf properties.
Sh. Mohan Lal Badoli also pointed out that some leaders from opposition parties are attempting to confuse the public. The Modi government, through the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, has taken a step to ensure better management, transparency, and proper utilization of Waqf lands. He added that this law will play a crucial role in ensuring that Waqf properties are used for the education and healthcare of poor Muslims and their children, he said.
He further highlighted that corruption was prevalent in the Waqf Board in the past, but now measures will be in place to curb corruption. The Modi government has made provisions for maintaining records of Waqf properties through digital means to prevent any tampering with these properties.
BJP Minority Morcha National Vice President Zakir Hussain also shared his views on this occasion. MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, and several members of the Muslim community also attended the programme.
