Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh reviewed Central and State Government schemes and inspected various development works during his two-day visit to Jind district.
At a meeting with district-level officers held at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind, Haryana Governor sought feedback on ongoing welfare programmes. He instructed officials to take strict measures for drug prevention, TB elimination, and crop residue management.
Reviewing the work of the Red Cross Society, he encouraged greater public participation in adopting TB patients under the Nikshay Yojana. Leading by example, he announced that he would personally adopt five TB patients and provide them with nutrition kits for six months.
The Governor stressed the effective implementation of MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and other rural development schemes to ensure that beneficiaries receive timely assistance. He further directed officials to streamline fertilizer distribution and promote farmer awareness on crop residue management.
Accompanied by his wife, Smt. Mitra Ghosh, the Governor visited primary schools in Jhanj Kalan and Jitgarh villages, where he emphasised instilling discipline, values, and interest in sports among children. He urged parents to spend quality time with their children, understand their interests, and allow them freedom in choosing their future paths. He also announced ₹60,000 each for the development of both schools and instructed management committees to ensure nutritious mid-day meals.
The Governor later inspected the Primary Health Centre at Ramrai village, interacting with patients and reviewing facilities such as the laboratory, medicine storage, cold chain room, and medical records.
At Jitgarh School and Ramrai Health Centre, Prof. Ghosh planted saplings, urging people not only to plant trees but also to nurture them.
He was accompanied by Smt. Mitra Ghosh, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Dr. Krishan Lal Middha, Deputy Commissioner Sh. Mohd Imran Raza, Superintendent of Police Sh. Kuldeep Singh, and other officials during the visit.
