Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said that four sittings of the Vidhan Sabha were held during the Monsoon Session from August 22 to 27, in which a resolution was unanimously passed to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, along with six bills adopted unanimously.
CM Nayab was addressing media persons in Chandigarh on Wednesday after the conclusion of the session.
On Congress’s record
The Chief Minister dismissed the opposition’s allegations of “fake voting,” stressing that Congress itself has a long history of fraud and subverting democracy. He recalled how in the 1946 Congress elections, despite Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel securing 14 votes against Pandit Nehru’s one, Nehru was declared the winner. He also cited the 2009 bogus voting controversy involving Sukhbir Kataria, where fake IDs and voter list tampering were alleged, leading to FIRs in 2013.
Saini added that Congress was responsible for imposing Emergency and setting examples of booth capturing, voter intimidation, and bribery through liquor and money during its rule.
On sex ratio and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao
Criticizing the opposition for questioning the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, he said it was initiated due to the dismal gender ratio under Congress. When Congress left power in 2014, Haryana’s sex ratio had fallen to 871. The programme, launched by PM Narendra Modi from Panipat in 2015, has since improved the ratio to 910.
On governance and opposition’s role
The CM said that while the opposition opposes every government decision, the world is acknowledging the leadership of PM Modi. Jobs announced for 1984 riot-affected families are part of the tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, not a political stunt, he clarified.
He also accused the opposition of misleading the House on collector rates and liquor contracts. Expressing regret over their walkout during the law-and-order debate, he said they had no real issues to present.
On the cyclothon event
Speaking about the cyclothon initiated by the Speaker to promote environmental protection, Saini said all MLAs were invited. He criticized the opposition for dismissing it as “drama,” saying silence would have been better than such remarks.
