Deliberations Held on Chhattisgarh’s Role in ISRO’s Journey, New Opportunities for Youth, and Use of Space Technology in Governance
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai received a courtesy visit from a delegation of space scientists led by Dr. N. M. Desai, Director of ISRO’s Ahmedabad Centre, at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Raipur.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on enhancing Chhattisgarh’s participation in ISRO’s journey, creating new opportunities for the youth of the state, deploying ISRO’s technologies to bring transparency and efficiency in governance, and expanding ISRO-led initiatives for school and college students.
Commending ISRO’s stellar achievements, Chief Minister Sai remarked that the heights India has attained in the field of space science are a source of immense pride for every citizen. He emphasized that the Government of Chhattisgarh is actively promoting innovation and technical education so that the state’s youth develop an interest in space science and can contribute meaningfully to India’s space missions.

The Chief Minister suggested that ISRO organize internships and training programmes for students of Chhattisgarh, enabling them to gain practical exposure to space science. He also highlighted that ISRO’s technology could be effectively leveraged in areas such as agriculture, mining regulation, monitoring of land encroachments, and detection of irregularities during paddy procurement.
On the occasion, Dr. N. M. Desai apprised the Chief Minister of ISRO’s ongoing projects. He stated that ISRO is running several innovative programmes to engage youth in space science, which will also be extended to Chhattisgarh. The discussions also included the proposal to set up a ‘Space Gallery’ in the state.
Dr. Desai invited Chief Minister Sai to visit ISRO’s Ahmedabad Centre and presented him with replicas of recently launched satellites and the Chandrayaan mission as souvenirs.
ISRO Scientists Moved by the Image of Lord Madheshwar
During the meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, ISRO scientists were captivated by a photograph of Lord Madheshwar. Curious, they sought details from Chief Minister Shri Sai, who explained that Madheshwar Hill is located in Jashpur district, where Lord Shiva is revered in the form of a colossal natural Shivalinga. The local community worships this form of Lord Shiva with deep devotion and reverence. Chief Minister Shri Sai added that the site is not only a spiritual centre but also a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s rich natural and cultural heritage. He presented the scientists with photographs of Lord Madheshwar as mementoes.
