The introduction of Checkmate, the super-spy organization, was another underwhelming moment. The lack of proper buildup made its emergence feel forced rather than a natural progression of the story.

A Setup for the Future, But Not a Strong Ending

The Season 2 finale of Peacemaker served more as a prologue for upcoming DC Universe (DCU) projects than a satisfying conclusion to the current season. While some fans appreciated the emotional beats and character moments, the overarching narrative felt fragmented and incomplete. Instead of tying loose ends, the episode created more questions, leaving audiences anticipating what lies ahead rather than feeling fulfilled by what just concluded.

Will Peacemaker Season 3 Happen?

With the finale ending on a cliffhanger and many threads left open, the question on everyone’s mind is whether Peacemaker will return for a third season. As of now, HBO has not officially renewed the series. However, showrunner James Gunn has hinted at the possibility of more to come. In a recent interview with Deadline, Gunn teased that the story of the 11th Street Kids and other characters might continue, though he was careful not to confirm a traditional Season 3.

He remarked: “You’re gonna find out more in episode 8 because it’s not necessarily that. Some of these characters will continue, but also, it’s not exactly Peacemaker 3. I’m not ruling it out. You’ll see (episode) 8 and maybe you’ll find out a little bit more.”
