Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in the traditional Chhath Puja festivities at Union Minister Chirag Paswan’s residence in Patna on Sunday. Chhath Puja, one of the most revered festivals in Hinduism, is dedicated to worshipping the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, and involves strict rituals, including a 36-hour fast observed by devotees.
As part of the ceremony, Nitish Kumar partook of the “Kharna Prasad,” a customary offering consumed by devotees before beginning their rigorous fast. The event took place at Paswan’s Shri Krishna Puri residence, where Kumar was warmly welcomed by the LJP (Ram Vilas) leader and his family.

Chirag Paswan shared images of the occasion on social media platform X, expressing his gratitude towards the Chief Minister. “Thank you, honourable Chief Minister Nitish Kumar , for coming to my home and partaking of Kharna Prasad. My family and I are grateful for the good wishes you expressed during the meeting,” Paswan wrote.
The photographs highlight Kumar alongside Paswan, his mother Reena, and brother-in-law Arun Bharti, the Lok Sabha MP from Jamui. Arun Bharti had previously represented the constituency twice before Paswan shifted his political base to Hajipur, the legacy seat of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan.
The visit reinforces the camaraderie between Bihar’s political leaders and highlights the cultural importance of Chhath Puja, which continues to strengthen community bonds and celebrate Bihar’s rich heritage.
