Addressing a massive public rally in Motipur, Muzaffarpur, PM Modi stated that the government is actively working to have Chhath Mahaparv recognized as part of UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
“Our government’s effort is to showcase Chhath Mahaparv as a festival of humanity, highlighting values that the world can learn from. We aim to ensure Chhath Mahaparv gains global recognition through UNESCO’s rigorous evaluation process,” PM Modi said during his address.
He also expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar, referring to them as his “real owners,” and lauded the large turnout of young voters, mothers, and sisters at the rally. He emphasized that Chhath is not only Bihar’s pride but also a celebration shared by Hindus across India and the world.

PM Modi highlighted the cultural essence of Chhath Puja, stating that the festival embodies devotion, equality, maternal love, and social harmony. “Chhath Mahaparv is a festival of our shared heritage. Nationwide Chhath Song Competition Launched
To further promote the festival, PM Modi announced a nationwide competition for Chhath songs. The best songs, selected by public voting, will be recognized and awarded ahead of next year’s Chhath celebrations.
“This competition will allow new artists to express their creativity while passing Chhath’s timeless traditions from one generation to the next. The top songs will receive national recognition,” the Prime Minister added.
