Shreyas Iyer discharged from Sydney hospital after ODI injury; BCCI confirms he is stable and recovering. Fans await his return to India and the cricket field.
Cricket fans have a reason to cheer as India’s star batter Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from a Sydney hospital following a serious injury sustained during the third ODI against Australia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the positive update in an official press release.
Shreyas Iyer’s Injury During the Third ODI
Iyer suffered the injury while taking a spectacular catch to dismiss Australia’s Alex Carey on October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Landing awkwardly while completing the catch, Iyer injured his ribs and was immediately forced to leave the field. Subsequent medical evaluations revealed internal bleeding, prompting urgent hospitalisation and a minor surgical procedure to address a laceration to his spleen.

Team India is currently competing in the ongoing T20I series against Australia. The first T20I was abandoned due to rain, while Australia secured a convincing win in the second match. India will aim to bounce back in the next game on November 2 to stay in contention for the series victory.
