Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma takes strict action on road safety: license suspension, encroachment removal, overloading crackdown, and black spot rectification.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has adopted a firm stance on improving road safety following a surge in road accidents across the state, particularly in Jodhpur and Jaipur. In a high-level meeting convened on Monday, CM Bhajanlal Sharma instructed all relevant departments to prepare a comprehensive action plan aimed at reducing accidents and ensuring strict compliance with traffic rules.
Strict License Suspension for Traffic Violations
In a major directive, the Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma ordered the Transport and Police departments to suspend driving licenses for repeat offenders involved in overspeeding or drunk driving. The move seeks to instill discipline among drivers and ensure that only responsible individuals are allowed on state roads. CM Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized that licenses should be revoked for drivers who repeatedly break traffic laws, aiming to enhance road safety across Rajasthan.
Encroachment Removal and Illegal Road Cuts
CM Bhajanlal Sharma highlighted the hazards caused by encroachments and illegal cuts along highways, which frequently lead to accidents. Departments have been instructed to remove all encroachments and unauthorized road cuts, particularly along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor and major highways. Immediate action is to be taken to close illegal constructions that disrupt traffic flow and endanger commuters.
Action Against Overloading
Overloading of vehicles, which damages roads and increases the likelihood of accidents, will be strictly monitored. CM Bhajanlal Sharma has mandated increased surveillance on key highways, including Jaipur-Delhi, Jaipur-Ajmer, Jaipur-Kota, and Jaipur-Mumbai, with accountability fixed on transport companies and operators responsible for violations.
Accountability of Officials
A zero-tolerance approach has been adopted for negligence by departmental officers, doctors, or personnel. The Transport and Police departments are instructed to ensure strict visual testing for heavy vehicle drivers to verify fitness for driving. Disciplinary action will be initiated against officials failing to meet these standards.
Road Safety Campaigns and Black Spot Rectification
The Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized immediate rectification of identified black spots—areas prone to frequent accidents. Winter-specific precautions, including fog signage, reflector installation, and road shoulder maintenance, are to be completed by November 15.

Emergency Medical Facilities and No-Entry Zones
CM Bhajanlal Sharma called for immediate medical assistance for accident victims using life-support ambulances. Strict enforcement of no-entry zones for heavy vehicles will be implemented, and Jaipur Police have been instructed to strengthen night-time traffic management.
Citizen Awareness and Recognition
In a bid to promote civic responsibility, the Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced that citizens who help accident victims will be recognized and honored by the state government. Additionally, information on traffic rules will now be made mandatory during license issuance and renewal, ensuring drivers are educated and compliant.
CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s directives signal a decisive approach to road safety in Rajasthan, aiming to curb accidents, enhance driver accountability, and create a safer driving environment for all citizens.
