Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has issued a strong directive to senior police officials to maintain strict law and order in the state, emphasizing that no laxity will be tolerated in combating drugs and organised crime. Chairing a high-level review meeting with Police Commissioners, IGs, DIGs, and SSPs on Thursday, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that the state government’s flagship campaigns, “Yudh Nashean Virudh” and “Gangsteraan Te Vaar,” remain top priorities and must aim for complete eradication of these social evils.

He noted that the Punjab Police has a proud legacy, and this legacy must continue by tackling the challenges posed by drugs and organised crime with full determination.

The CM Bhagwant Singh Mann highlighted that both flagship campaigns have already shown positive results with strong public support. However, he emphasized that a decisive and final action is required to eliminate these issues completely. CM Mann also announced that he would personally monitor daily progress, rewarding officers demonstrating exceptional performance while holding negligent personnel strictly accountable.
Underlining the importance of modernisation, CM Mann assured that funding for technology, manpower, and infrastructure upgrades for Punjab Police is not a constraint. He also directed a statewide review of arms licences, with immediate cancellation mandated for any misused licences.
Focusing on youth, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann highlighted the need to prevent young people from falling into drugs and crime by expanding employment opportunities, strengthening education, and launching large-scale career counselling initiatives in drug-affected and vulnerable areas. He also called for efforts to reduce school dropout rates in sensitive regions.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, DGP Gaurav Yadav, and other senior officials, with all departments tasked to ensure strict implementation of the directives.
