The Election Commission has extended SIR deadlines in Delhi and five states. Check the revised dates for claims, objections and final electoral rolls.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in five states and Delhi. The changes include extensions to the deadlines for filing claims and objections in Maharashtra and Delhi, along with revised timelines for completing the verification process and publishing final voter lists.
According to letters issued by the Election Commission on October 29, the final electoral rolls for Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana and Nagaland will be published on November 30. Delhi’s final voter list is now scheduled to be released on December 22.
The latest SIR schedule extension follows requests received from the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the respective states and Delhi. The revised dates are expected to provide additional time for the claims and objections process.
New SIR Deadlines for Delhi and Maharashtra
The Election Commission has extended the claims and objections period in Maharashtra and Delhi, giving voters more time to submit their applications.
In Maharashtra, the deadline for filing claims and objections has been extended from October 26 to November 13. The period for issuing notices and disposing of claims and objections will now continue until November 25, instead of the earlier November 10 deadline.
In Delhi, voters can now file claims and objections until November 25. The previous deadline was October 30. The deadline for completing the disposal process has also been extended from November 30 to December 15.
The draft electoral rolls for both Maharashtra and Delhi were published on August 31.
Revised Timelines for Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Nagaland
The Election Commission has also modified the schedule for the remaining states. However, the claims and objections filing period has already ended in Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Telangana and Nagaland. Therefore, the revisions in these states mainly concern the notice and disposal stages.
Under the updated schedule:
Andhra Pradesh: The notice and disposal phase will now end on November 20.
Haryana: The revised deadline for the notice phase is November 20.
Nagaland: The notice phase will continue until November 25.
Telangana: The corresponding deadline has been extended to November 26.
The qualifying date for Andhra Pradesh and Haryana is July 1, while the qualifying date for the other four states and Delhi is October 1.

Supreme Court’s Direction on Delhi Voter Applications
The revision of Delhi’s SIR timeline comes after an important direction from the Supreme Court. On Wednesday, the court asked the Election Commission not to insist on a cut-off date for accepting forms from Delhi voters.
The court directed the poll body to continue accepting the relevant forms while verifying the information provided by applicants. It also said that supporting documents could be sought wherever necessary.
The direction came just two days before the earlier deadline for submitting Form 6. The court’s observation was made in view of the fact that no elections are scheduled to take place in Delhi in the immediate future.
Multiple Changes to the SIR Schedule
The latest SIR schedule extension is not the first revision for most of the states covered by the exercise. The Election Commission has made several changes to the original timetable.
Maharashtra has received six schedule revisions since the original order issued on May 14. Delhi’s timeline has been revised five times, while Andhra Pradesh has seen four changes. Telangana’s schedule has been revised three times and Haryana’s twice.
The latest changes aim to complete the electoral roll revision exercise according to the updated timelines.
What Is the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls?
The Special Intensive Revision, commonly known as SIR, is an exercise conducted by the Election Commission to revise electoral rolls. It involves checking voter details and processing applications, claims and objections before the publication of the final voter list.
The Election Commission announced the third phase of SIR on May 14. This phase covers 16 states and three Union Territories, involving approximately 367 million electors. The exercise is being carried out in different regions in a staggered manner.
The process first attracted significant attention when it began in Bihar in 2025, ahead of the state’s Assembly elections.
With the latest SIR schedule extension, voters in Delhi and Maharashtra have additional time to submit claims and objections. The final electoral rolls are scheduled for November 30 in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Haryana and Nagaland, while Delhi’s final list is expected on December 22.
