AAP MLA Gopal Italia has written to the Gujarat Chief Minister, seeking a resolution to the pending demands of forest guards, foresters and other forest employees.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia has written to the Gujarat Chief Minister, urging the state government to address the long-pending demands of forest guards, foresters and other Forest Department employees. In his letter, Italia highlighted the difficulties faced by personnel responsible for protecting forests and wildlife and called for immediate discussions with their representatives.
According to the letter, employees from various cadres of the Forest Department have repeatedly approached the government regarding their demands, but no concrete resolution or meaningful dialogue has taken place so far. Italia expressed concern that the lack of response has left forest personnel with little option but to resort to Mass Casual Leave (Mass CL) and an indefinite strike.
Forest Employees Face Challenging Working Conditions
The Forest Department employees’ demands have gained attention amid the ongoing protest by personnel working in different parts of Gujarat. These employees are responsible for protecting forests and wildlife, often working in difficult and potentially dangerous conditions.
Italia pointed out that forest staff frequently perform their duties in areas inhabited by wild animals and poisonous insects. Many also have to stay away from their families for extended periods and work in locations where mobile network connectivity is unavailable.

He said these challenging circumstances make it important for the government to address the concerns of forest personnel without further delay.
Risk Allowance and Other Key Demands
Referring to the demands submitted by the protesting employees’ organisation, Gopal Italia highlighted several issues that have remained unresolved for a long time.
The key Forest Department employees’ demands include:
Risk allowance for forest personnel working in hazardous conditions.
Payment of allowances along with leave salary.
An increase in the sanctioned staff strength for Foresters and Range Forest Officers.
Removal of discrepancies in the grade pay of employees belonging to different cadres.
According to Gopal Italia, these demands relate to the working conditions, financial benefits and staffing requirements of employees who play an important role in forest conservation.
Gopal Italia Urges Government to Hold Immediate Talks
In his letter to the Chief Minister, the AAP MLA stressed that forest personnel are entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the state’s green cover, forests and wildlife. He urged the government to take their concerns seriously and initiate negotiations with the employees’ organisation.
Gopal Italia said the government should hold discussions with representatives of forest workers and take appropriate decisions to resolve the pending issues.
The Forest Department employees’ demands, he argued, require urgent attention because employees working in challenging conditions should not have to continue protesting to secure their basic service-related benefits.
The MLA has called for timely government intervention so that the concerns of forest guards, foresters and other department employees can be addressed and the ongoing agitation can be resolved through dialogue.
