According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randeep Jaiswal, the talks primarily revolved around enhancing India’s startup ecosystem, promoting AI innovations, and exploring new investment opportunities in the space and technology sectors. He noted that Naspers’ growing success in India highlights the country’s improving ease of doing business and the thriving culture of startups.
In parallel, PM Modi also met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. The leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation in defense, security, critical minerals, trade, and investment, agreeing to further strengthen bilateral collaboration across multiple sectors.

Prime Minister Modi met with Indian-origin tech entrepreneurs and members of the Indian community in South Africa, urging them to strengthen ties with India and collaborate on emerging opportunities. Entrepreneurs shared insights into their work across fintech, social media, agriculture, education, healthcare, and medical devices. Modi highlighted on social media that the discussions were extremely productive and emphasized deepening partnerships with India.
Grand Welcome and Cultural Celebrations in South Africa
Upon arrival at Waterkloof Air Force Base, PM Modi received a formal welcome. Members of the Indian community presented vibrant cultural performances, including Ganesh prayers and peace chants by children, and a devotional song celebrating the Ganga by a female artist. The “Ekjut Bharat Ki Laya” program showcased folk dances from 11 Indian states, reflecting the country’s rich cultural heritage.
Prime Minister Modi shared photos and videos of the performances on social media, expressing pride in India’s cultural diversity and the strong connection of the Indian diaspora to their roots.
This G20 Summit marks the first time the event has been hosted in Africa. Under India’s leadership, the African Union also joined the G20 in 2023, further strengthening ties between India and African nations. The summit highlighted India’s commitment to technological advancement, investment promotion, and showcasing its cultural diversity on the global stage.
