Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Congratulates the Team
Vishnu Deo Sai: In a moment that has marked a new chapter in the sporting journey of Chhattisgarh, the state’s young polo players have scripted history by earning an extraordinary place on the international polo stage. Their participation and performance at the 15th Manipur International Polo Tournament in Imphal has not only elevated the state’s reputation but also showcased the rising talent emerging from its remote regions. Recognising this milestone, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai warmly welcomed the team at his Raipur residence and praised their exceptional accomplishment.
Extending heartiest congratulations, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that this achievement is a matter of immense pride for the entire state. He encouraged the players to continue advancing with the same passion and perseverance. Shri Sai added that tribal youth in Chhattisgarh possess remarkable sporting talent, and with government support, equestrian sports and polo have gained renewed direction and strength in the state.
Chhattisgarh carved its name in history by participating for the first time in the 15th Manipur International Polo Tournament, held in Imphal from November 22 to 29, 2025. This occasion was especially significant as, for the first time in the country’s history, an Indian state was invited to represent India at an international polo tournament.

The Chhattisgarh team competed against strong national and international contenders, including teams from the United States, Colombia, and the Indian Polo Association. Their participation stands as a powerful example of the increasing presence and excellence of tribal youth in competitive sports.
This remarkable achievement was made possible through the collective support of several institutions, including the Government of Chhattisgarh, the Indian Army (NCC), the district administration of Dantewada and Kanker, Brigo & Hector Equestrian Management Company, Raipur.
Members of the Chhattisgarh team included Lieutenant Colonel Aman Singh (NCC), Lance Naadim Ali (Retd.), Vedika Sharan, Chitrabhanu Singh, Samuel Vishwakarma, Golu Ram Kashyap, Subhash Lekami, and Devaki Kadti. Notably, Ms. Vedika Sharan had also brought laurels earlier in September 2025 by securing second place in India and 15th rank globally in her age category at an international equestrian championship held in Bengaluru.
Under the “Khel Se Shakti” initiative, talented students from Dantewada and Kanker have been receiving structured training in horse riding and polo. This programme is operated by Brigo & Hector Equestrian Management Company, Raipur in collaboration with experienced polo players of the Indian Army.
The initiative reflects the state government’s strong commitment to empowering tribal youth through sports, education, and professional training. Its objective is to equip Chhattisgarh’s players with the resources and exposure necessary to excel at national and global arenas. On the occasion, Commissioner of Chhattisgarh Housing Board Shri Awanish Sharan and Equestrian trainer Ms. Geeta Dahiya were also present.
