Gopal Italia emphasized that farmers across Gujarat are looking towards the AAP with hope. He stated that the party has presented a model similar to the Punjab government, which compensates farmers, sharecroppers, and farm laborers promptly. Italia clarified that these demands are not political but are essential to sustaining agriculture in Gujarat.
He further noted that rising cultivation costs, unpredictable weather conditions, and damage from wild animals are threatening the livelihood of farmers. Practices like Kadda in APMC markets and installation of railway and power lines without farmers’ consent are forcing them to abandon farming. The AAP delegation urged the Gujarat government to take swift decisions on these 11 demands to ensure the welfare of farmers and the survival of agriculture in the state.
This meeting underlines AAP’s commitment to addressing farmers’ concerns and reflects the party’s focus on agriculture as a priority in Gujarat’s governance.
