UP on track to become a $1-trillion economy: CM Yogi Adityanath reviews GSDP progress, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, and social welfare initiatives.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that Uttar Pradesh is steadily progressing towards its ambitious goal of becoming a $1-trillion economy, asserting that the state has strong potential for faster and sustained growth in the coming years.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in Lucknow, the chief minister assessed the performance of various departments linked to the $1-trillion economy roadmap. He directed officials to accelerate implementation, ensure timely execution of projects and strengthen monitoring mechanisms to achieve the target within the stipulated timeframe.
According to officials present at the meeting, Uttar Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) currently stands at ₹29.78 lakh crore. The state’s share in the national economy has increased to 9% in 2024–25, up from 8.6% in 2022–23. They informed the CM that nearly 93% of the projected GSDP target has already been achieved, and efforts are underway to scale the GSDP to around ₹42 lakh crore.
The chief minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of regular and structured reviews. He instructed ministers to conduct monthly evaluations of department-wise initiatives related to economic growth, while the chief secretary would hold fortnightly reviews. Weekly monitoring by additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and departmental heads was also mandated.

Emphasising efficiency and accountability, Adityanath called for quality assessments, timely completion of tasks and swift disposal of official files. He also directed departments to upload real-time data related to projects and expenditure without delay and to further streamline data collection processes.
To ensure optimal utilisation of funds, the CM Yogi Adityanath urged senior officials to maintain close coordination with the central government for the timely release of the Centre’s share of funds. He also instructed departments to utilise allocated budgets within the defined financial timelines. The planning department was asked to set up a robust system for collecting weekly progress data from all departments.
Highlighting the agriculture sector’s role in the state’s growth story, Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh contributes about 21% of the country’s total foodgrain production. He noted that ensuring food and nutrition security while boosting farmers’ income remains a top priority, adding that the state’s agricultural growth rate has consistently remained above 13%.
On road safety, the chief minister termed it a critical concern and directed officials to take concrete steps to reduce accidents, especially during foggy weather conditions. He asked the transport department to hold a comprehensive review meeting, rationalise registration fees for commercial vehicles and expand quality bus services to improve public convenience.
Discussing tourism, Adityanath said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed an unprecedented surge in tourist arrivals. He noted that nearly 125 crore tourists visited the state till June this year, reflecting growing confidence in its infrastructure and facilities.
The CM Yogi Adityanath also issued directions related to social welfare initiatives. He said district-wise targets should be fixed under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana and suggested that part of the financial assistance be released in advance to help beneficiaries with preparations, with the remaining amount provided during the ceremony.
Additionally, Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to fast-track the establishment of digital libraries at the gram panchayat level, ensuring that the computers and infrastructure provided meet required technical standards.
Concluding the meeting, the chief minister reiterated that with coordinated efforts, disciplined execution and continuous monitoring, Uttar Pradesh is well-positioned to achieve its $1-trillion economy goal and emerge as a major growth engine for the country.
