The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. Harry Brook will lead the team as captain, while Jofra Archer has been included despite sustaining an injury during the ongoing Ashes series.
The squad will also feature in a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka from January 30 to February 3, although Archer is unlikely to participate if his recovery extends beyond the series. In such a scenario, Brydon Carse, who is included in the Sri Lanka T20I series squad, is expected to replace Archer in the final T20 World Cup squad.
Notable Inclusions and Surprises
One of the most notable selections is Josh Tongue, who has not yet played a white-ball game for England. Tongue, however, has impressed during the ongoing Ashes series in Australia. In T20 cricket within England, Tongue has played 21 matches, claiming 29 wickets at an average of 19.03, although his economy rate of 9.07 is on the higher side.
Other key players include Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid, Ben Duckett, and Will Jacks, all of whom are expected to play pivotal roles in England’s campaign in both India and Sri Lanka.
