Television actor Arjun Bijlani and his wife Neha Swami are mourning the sudden demise of Neha’s father, Rakesh Chandra Swami, who passed away at the age of 73 after suffering a stroke. The family received the tragic news on Thursday morning, which forced Arjun to cut short his New Year vacation in Dubai and rush back to Mumbai to support his grieving wife.

According to reports, Rakesh Chandra Swami was healthy and had been spending time with his family before the incident. However, he suffered a sudden stroke and was immediately admitted to Bellevue Hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator from Monday night. Despite the doctors’ efforts, he could not survive the medical emergency. A family member shared with Hindustan Times, “He was fit and fine, set to have dinner when suddenly he suffered a stroke. The entire family is shocked, as Arjun and Neha had just met with him before leaving.”

Arjun Bijlani and Neha, who tied the knot in May 2013, share a son, Ayaan Bijlani. The couple returned to Mumbai on Tuesday after hearing about the critical condition of Neha’s father and remained by his side at the hospital until his passing.

The actor shared a special bond with his father-in-law. A family member said, “Arjun lost his own father early in life, so Rakesh Chandra Swami became a father figure for him. He was not only Neha’s beloved father but also a guiding influence for Arjun.”

Neha had previously expressed her admiration for her father on Father’s Day, writing a heartfelt note: “Happy Father’s Day to my daddy. I’ve always admired the way you loved, led, and protected our family. I always hoped Arjun would learn from you — your strength, your patience, and the way you make fatherhood look like a blessing.
