CM Yogi Adityanath reviews the Finance Department’s budget for 2025-26, directs all departments to accelerate spending and ensure timely execution of projects and welfare schemes.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a high-level review meeting on Friday morning to assess the expenditure of budgets allocated to various government departments for the fiscal year 2025-26. The meeting focused on the mid-year progress of the top 20 departments with the highest budget provisions, comparing actual spending with the approved allocations and departmental distributions.
Departments with Slow Budget Spending to Speed Up
During the review, CM Yogi emphasized that all major departments must utilize their allocated budgets promptly to ensure the timely execution of government projects and welfare schemes. He stressed that officials should develop the capability to take decisions quickly, as delays in decision-making result in slow budget utilization.
“Departments where expenditure is lagging must accelerate their spending,” said the CM. “Each officer at every level must be assigned clear responsibilities to ensure accountability. Negligence will not be tolerated. Immediate action is needed to implement projects on the ground.”

Coordination with Central Government for Pending Budgets
The Chief Minister instructed that ministers, Additional Chief Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries must coordinate with the central government to expedite the release of pending budget allocations. Departments must hold monthly review meetings to monitor expenditure progress, and the Finance Department must follow up actively to release any remaining allocations. CM Yogi also directed the Chief Secretary to identify slow-spending departments and issue official reminders to the concerned ministers from the CM’s office.
Preparations for 2026-27 Budget Already Underway
Looking ahead, CM Yogi instructed the Finance Department to begin preparations for the next fiscal year, 2026-27. Departments are required to review their budget demands in coordination with the Finance Department, keeping in mind the analysis of their expenditure over the past five years. Enhanced coordination with the central government has also been mandated to ensure timely receipt of allocations for upcoming schemes.
With these directives, the CM aims to ensure that government schemes reach citizens efficiently and that budget allocations are fully utilized within the fiscal year, reinforcing transparency, accountability, and faster governance.
