The struggle for workers’ rights at Nitrax Chemical India Ltd in Jhagadia GIDC continues as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Chaitar Vasava sits on a protest for the second consecutive day. The MLA has vowed to support the workers until their demands are fully met.

Protest Enters Second Day

The ongoing dharna, led by MLA Chaitar Vasava, has now surpassed 24 hours. Speaking to the media, Vasava emphasized that the workers have not received several essential benefits, and the company has violated multiple labor laws. The demands include provident fund (PF), gratuity, and other statutory benefits that the employees are legally entitled to.

Key Demands of Workers

MLA Chaitar Vasava highlighted that employees who have served the company for over three years must be made permanent staff members. Additional demands include payment of overtime at double the rate, medical claim settlements, issuance of payment slips, and regular increments.

Legal Violations by the Company

Chaitar Vasava pointed out that Nitrax Chemical India Ltd has ignored provisions under several key laws, including:

• Industrial Disputes Act, 1947

• Factories Act, 1948

• Employees’ Insurance Act, 1948

• Employees’ Provident Fund Act, 1952

• Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972

The MLA stressed that these legal violations have caused workers to suffer without basic rights and benefits.

Unconditional Support and Warning of Indefinite Protest

MLA Chaitar Vasava also warned that if the company fails to meet these demands, the protest will continue indefinitely. Several leaders have joined the dharna to show solidarity with the workers, and public attention is growing as the issue highlights ongoing labor rights concerns in Gujarat.
