Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma warns police over intelligence lapses; Ashok Gehlot criticizes CM, calls state’s policing system weak and unprepared.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday issued a stern warning to the state police during a seminar on modern policing held at the Rajasthan Police Academy. The CM criticized the police for recent lapses, highlighting that intelligence and local law enforcement were unaware of actions taken by agencies from other states, including Gujarat ATS, Mumbai, and Punjab.
Sharma pointed out that district-level police should have been aware of these operations. “If external agencies are taking action in Rajasthan and our police remain uninformed, it reflects a serious flaw in the system,” he said. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to rectify these gaps to ensure better coordination and efficiency.

Strict Measures and Accountability for Police Officers
The Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma called for modernization of the Rajasthan Police and urged officers and personnel to adopt more proactive work methods. “Police must act swiftly and in coordination to provide timely relief to the public. Rajasthan government’s zero-tolerance policy against crime and corruption will be enforced strictly,” he warned. Sharma further stated that officers failing to serve the public effectively will face strict action.
Ashok Gehlot Criticizes CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s Warning
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot responded sharply, calling the situation “ironical” and highlighting the collapse of Rajasthan Police’s intelligence network. “Even though the BJP governs Gujarat and Maharashtra, external agencies conducting operations in Rajasthan without local police knowledge exposes the CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s administrative weaknesses,” Gehlot said.
He questioned public safety in light of the CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s own admission and asked, “If the Chief Minister himself is questioning the police, where should citizens turn for protection? Who made Rajasthan Police so powerless and uninformed?” Gehlot also criticized the government for lowering police morale, warning that undermining officers does not absolve the administration of responsibility.
The CM Bhajanlal Sharma’s remarks underscore ongoing concerns about law enforcement efficiency in Rajasthan and signal a push for stricter policing standards and improved intelligence coordination.
