GURUGRAM – In a major leap toward “Smart Policing,” the Gurugram Police has officially launched a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot service to provide citizens with instant access to essential law enforcement resources. Launched by Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between the public and the police through seamless, transparent, and high-tech communication.
Citizens can now access a wide array of services by simply sending a “Hi” or “Hello” to +91 9599964777.
Key Features of the WhatsApp Chatbot
The chatbot is designed to be a “one-stop digital desk” for residents, offering real-time assistance across various categories:
-
Locate Nearest Police Stations: Using geo-fencing technology, the bot identifies the user’s location to provide the name, contact details, and Google Maps directions for the nearest Police Station, Women Police Station, or Cyber Police Station.
-
Traffic Assistance: Users can report traffic jams, road accidents, waterlogging, or vehicle breakdowns directly through the app. It also provides contact details for the jurisdictional Traffic Inspector.
-
Cybersecurity & Lost Items: The bot features a direct link to the CEIR portal for reporting lost mobile phones and redirects users to the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal for financial frauds.
-
Emergency Helplines: Quick access to 112 (Emergency) and 1930 (Cyber Helpline), along with specific contacts for women’s safety and senior citizens.
-
Multimedia Reporting: Citizens can upload photos and videos of traffic violations or civic issues, which are then assigned a unique Reference ID for tracking.
A Move Towards Greater Transparency
During the launch, Commissioner Vikas Kumar Arora emphasized that as Gurugram evolves into a global metropolis, the police must adapt to the digital expectations of its residents.
“This chatbot is more than just a helpline; it is a tool for accountability. By providing direct access to SHO contact numbers and GPS locations, we are ensuring that no citizen has to run from one station to another over jurisdictional confusion.”
The service is available in both English and Hindi, ensuring it is accessible to all sections of society. It also includes a feedback mechanism where residents can rate their experience or provide suggestions on improving local policing.
