Gujarat farmer dies after Jetco forcefully installs electricity lines without permission in Jepur village. AAP MLA Gopal Italia demands justice and proper compensation for farmers.
In Jetpur Taluka’s Jepur village, a farmer tragically lost his life after Jetco Company forcefully installed electricity lines in his field without permission, raising serious concerns over corporate and government negligence. AAP Visavadar MLA Gopal Italia visited the grieving family and condemned the incident, highlighting that the farmer, Bhagwanjibhai, suffered a severe shock due to the coercive installation of poles, resulting in a fatal heart attack.
Gopal Italia accused the Gujarat BJP government of allowing companies to install electricity lines in over 800 villages without proper compensation to farmers. He said, “This kind of gangsterism by private companies, along with collusion from government officials, is destroying farmers’ livelihoods. The poles are often placed in the middle of the fields, causing long-term damage to land value and future land development.”

The AAP MLA stressed that farmers should receive proper compensation and ownership rights if private companies intend to install poles in their fields. He criticized local authorities for pressuring farmers with responses like, “Where does your electricity come from?” and called on officials to ensure poles are installed on government or common land instead of private farmland.
Italia urged farmers to unite against such practices and demanded that villages collectively oppose any forced pole installations. “The government and companies must respect farmers’ rights. AAP stands with farmers in this fight against corporate and governmental oppression,” he said.
He also highlighted similar incidents in Morbi, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Kutch, and Mehsana districts, where coercive installation of electricity poles continues to threaten farmers’ livelihoods. Italia emphasized that proper procedures, including purchasing the land or obtaining consent from farmers, must be followed to prevent such tragedies.
The AAP leader concluded that the current system of forcibly placing electricity poles in farmers’ fields is completely unacceptable and called for a united movement to protect farmers across Gujarat.
