Background of the Jhajjar Encounter
The encounter took place last Thursday between the police and criminals in Jhajjar. During the incident, Pankaj, brother of a BJP spokesperson, sustained a gunshot wound in his leg, and ASI Praveen also suffered injuries.
Following the encounter, tensions escalated as Panchayats in Dighal and Ramayana villages issued ultimatums to the government and administration. Some villagers demanded the arrest of Pankaj, while others emphasized maintaining harmony in Dighal. In a recent village Panchayat, Pankaj and two other youths were declared innocent and were handed over to the local Panchayat for resolution.
The Chief Minister, acknowledging the villagers’ concerns, directed the immediate formation of an SIT to ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation. This decision aims to maintain law and order while providing justice to all parties involved.
