CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates Meerut Sports University logo, flag and uniform, highlighting the university’s role in boosting sports culture in Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday visited the under-construction Major Dhyan Chand State Meerut Sports University in Meerut and inaugurated several key identity elements of the institution, including its official logo, flag, uniform and motto. The Chief Minister said the university would play a pivotal role in strengthening sports culture and nurturing talent across Uttar Pradesh.

During his visit, CM Yogi reviewed the progress of construction work and instructed officials to maintain strict timelines to ensure the campus becomes operational at the earliest. The state government aims to develop the university as a world-class center for sports education, research and athlete development.

University Campus Expanding Rapidly

The Meerut Sports University is being developed over nearly 90 acres of land along the Ganga canal in the Sardhana region of Meerut. CM Yogi announced that an additional 10 acres of land will be allotted to further expand infrastructure and facilities. Officials informed that the first phase of construction is targeted for completion by March, while preparations are underway to begin the academic session from the university’s own campus by May 31, 2026.

Boost to Sports Education and Research

Highlighting Meerut’s identity under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme for sports goods manufacturing, the Chief Minister said the new university would enhance the city’s reputation as a sports hub. The institution will offer diploma, degree and research-based programs aimed at producing skilled professionals, coaches and athletes. The long-term vision is to establish the campus among India’s leading sports universities with international standards.

‘Jai Hind’ Motto Reflects Discipline and National Pride

On the occasion, the university’s official motto “Jai Hind” was formally unveiled along with the newly designed logo and uniform, reflecting themes of discipline, dedication and patriotism. CM Yogi said the slogan would inspire students to uphold national values while pursuing sporting excellence.

Strict Monitoring of Construction Timeline

Vice-Chancellor, Retired Major General Deep Ahlawat, stated that the Chief Minister reviewed project milestones and directed authorities to complete all pending works within the prescribed deadlines. The administration aims to ensure smooth academic operations and full-scale infrastructure readiness in the coming months.

With the unveiling of its official identity and steady construction progress, Meerut Sports University is set to emerge as a major pillar in Uttar Pradesh’s sports development ecosystem.
