Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann holds press conference in Ahmedabad, urges Gujarat government to implement ₹10 lakh free health scheme like Punjab’s Chief Minister Sehat Yojana, criticizes BJP-Congress governance, and appeals to citizens to support AAP.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, during his visit to Gujarat, held a press conference in Ahmedabad emphasizing the need for a comprehensive healthcare scheme in the state, similar to Punjab’s ‘Chief Minister Sehat Yojana’. Mann, accompanied by senior AAP leaders including Gopal Rai, Isudan Gadhvi, Gopal Italia, Chaitar Vasava, and Manoj Sorthia, addressed the media about replicating Punjab’s welfare initiatives in Gujarat.
Mann Advocates ₹10 Lakh Free Treatment Scheme for Gujarat
CM Bhagwant Mann highlighted that under Punjab’s Chief Minister Sehat Yojana, every family receives free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh per year without any income-based conditions or special certificates. Only an Aadhaar card is required for registration. “We aim to ensure that no family suffers due to sudden illness, which can financially devastate them. The scheme provides treatment for all types of illnesses, from kidney and heart issues to mental health,” he said.
Coverage for Families and Repeat Treatments
Bhagwant Mann explained that the scheme covers all family members, irrespective of their number, and costs are fully borne by the government. If one family member spends ₹1.5 lakh on treatment, it will be fully reimbursed, and the remaining limit will cover other family members in the same year. Once the annual registration period ends, the ₹10 lakh limit is renewed, ensuring continuous coverage.

Health Equity Beyond Punjab
The CM Bhagwant Mann stated, “Even outside India, in countries like the USA, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, such a comprehensive healthcare program is not available. Our scheme covers all medical procedures including dialysis, knee and kidney transplants, heart treatments, and mental health issues.” Mann emphasized that similar healthcare services should be available in Gujarat to prevent residents from traveling long distances for even minor treatments.
Other Welfare Measures
Bhagwant Mann highlighted that Punjab also provides free electricity up to 600 units per month, benefiting nearly 90% of households. Additionally, Punjab contributes heavily to the national grain stock, delivering approximately 185 lakh metric tons of rice and 125 lakh metric tons of wheat annually.
Criticism of Gujarat Government
The Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann criticized the Gujarat government, stating, “For the past 30 years, Gujarat has seen BJP rule, yet essential welfare measures have not reached the people. Congress is almost absent, and both parties often collaborate in governance. It’s time for Gujarat residents to choose AAP – the people’s government – for transparent governance and inclusive welfare.”
Call to Action
Mann urged the citizens of Gujarat to elect AAP, emphasizing the need for a government that prioritizes the welfare of all citizens equally. “Every citizen’s vote matters, and welfare schemes should be accessible to everyone without discrimination,” he said.
