Himachal CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visits Doon Hospital to check condition of victims injured in Kalsi bus accident. Three dead, 33 injured in tragic Himachal Roadways crash.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Dehradun’s Doon Hospital today to check on the condition of those injured in the Himachal Roadways bus accident near Kalsi, which occurred yesterday. The tragic incident claimed the lives of three passengers, while 33 others sustained injuries. CM Dhami instructed hospital authorities to ensure proper medical care for all the injured.
The bus, traveling from Chaupal to Paonta Sahib, fell into a 100-meter-deep gorge near Sudoai Khadd on the Haripur-Koti-Kwanu-Meens highway on Tuesday. The accident occurred when the bus tried to overtake a truck and a roadside embankment gave way. A total of 36 passengers were on board. Among the deceased were Yasmeen (38) from Nerwa, Shimla; Dhan Bahadur (50) from Kyumla; and Riya (28) from Bijmal village. The driver, Dinesh Kumar from Popat, Shimla, remains in critical condition.

Rescue Operations and Hospitalization:
The local administration received the alert around 10 AM. Naib Tehsildar Rajendra Lal reached the site along with an SDRF team. Locals and passersby immediately began rescue operations, pulling many passengers out of the gorge. Due to a delay in ambulance services, injured passengers were transported to hospitals using private and public vehicles. Fourteen injured were taken to the Sub-District Hospital, ten to Lehman Hospital, Herbertpur, three to the Paonta Sahib Government Hospital, and one to Graphic Era Hospital, Dhulkot.
Officials’ Supervision:
Following the incident, officials including ADM Finance KK Mishra, SDM Vikasnagar Vinod Kumar, SDM Paonta Sahib Gunjit Singh Cheema, DSP Paonta Manvendra Thakur, and Tehsildar Vikasnagar Vivek Rajouri visited the hospitals to check on the injured. They directed doctors to provide proper treatment. ADM KK Mishra and Tehsildar Rajendra Lal confirmed that three passengers died, 33 were injured, and four were referred to higher medical centers.
CM Dhami’s Directives:
CM Dhami instructed that all injured receive timely and adequate treatment and emphasized that such accidents should be prevented in the future by improving road safety and bus infrastructure. He assured that the government will provide full support to the victims and their families.
