AAP MLA Gopal Italia criticized the use of low-quality material in a Gujarat under-construction bridge, highlighting that it could break easily but is intended to protect vehicles and lives.
AAP MLA Gopal Italia has raised concerns over the use of low-quality material in a bridge currently under construction in Gujarat. During a Facebook Live session, Italia highlighted that the material used is so fragile that it can break even by touch, yet the government claims it is intended to protect vehicles and lives if an accident occurs.
Speaking on the bridge, Italia said, “I was traveling along a road where bridge construction is ongoing. The government wants to ensure that even if a vehicle collides, people’s lives remain safe, which is why the bridge is designed in such a way that it might break but vehicles remain unharmed.” He stressed that this approach is not due to corruption or financial mismanagement but is aimed solely at protecting citizens and their vehicles.

He added, “It seems the government is overly concerned about vehicle and human safety, which is why such a bridge is being built. Had strong material been used, vehicles might get damaged in a collision, but the government wants to prevent any loss to the people.” Italia sarcastically remarked that while the bridge could be rebuilt at the cost of crores of rupees, poor citizens might not afford new vehicles, making this “light material” approach seemingly practical.
Gopal Italia concluded by saying that the AAP supports citizen safety and will continue to highlight issues of public infrastructure and governance, while also drawing attention to the ironies in government decisions.
