Punjab expands Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, providing cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh, 44 lakh+ health cards and 1.59 lakh beneficiaries covered.
The Punjab government has reported major progress under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, with Health Minister Balbir Singh highlighting that the scheme is rapidly transforming healthcare access for millions of residents across the state.
According to official data shared by the department, the scheme has so far benefited a large number of families by providing cashless treatment facilities at both government and empanelled private hospitals.
Strong Progress in Healthcare Delivery
Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, approximately 1.59 lakh beneficiaries have received treatment so far. In addition, more than 3.11 lakh medical procedures have been successfully carried out under the scheme.
Officials also confirmed that over 44 lakh health cards have been issued to eligible citizens, ensuring wider coverage and easier access to healthcare services across Punjab.

Cashless Treatment Up to ₹10 Lakh
A key feature of the scheme is the provision of cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per family per year. This benefit is available at a network of government hospitals and empanelled private healthcare facilities, reducing the financial burden on patients during critical medical situations.
The government stated that the initiative is designed to ensure that no citizen is denied quality healthcare due to financial constraints.
Focus on Financial Protection for Families
Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that in earlier years, many families were forced into debt, selling assets such as land or jewellery to afford medical treatment. The current scheme aims to eliminate such hardships by providing comprehensive financial protection in healthcare.
He added that public funds are now being used more effectively to support citizens during medical emergencies rather than being lost to inefficiencies or corruption.
A Step Towards Universal Health Coverage
The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana is being positioned as a major step toward universal health coverage in Punjab. The scheme is not only improving access to healthcare but also strengthening trust in public health institutions.
Officials believe that continued expansion of the programme will further enhance healthcare infrastructure and ensure that even the most vulnerable sections of society receive timely treatment.
