Punjab’s healthcare system is witnessing a major transformation as the Bhagwant Mann led government continues to expand its flagship initiative, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana. According to Health Minister Balbir Singh, the scheme is rapidly turning healthcare into an accessible right for every household in the state.
Within just a few months of its launch, the scheme has already provided cashless medical treatment worth approximately ₹632 crore, benefiting more than 2.26 lakh patients across Punjab.

Massive Expansion of Health Coverage
Under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, over 46 lakh health cards have been issued so far, enabling families to access free and cashless treatment across empanelled hospitals.
The initiative ensures that financial constraints do not prevent patients from receiving timely medical care, especially in critical health conditions.
850+ Hospitals Integrated Under the Scheme
The program has been implemented across more than 850 government and private hospitals in Punjab, making healthcare services widely accessible even in semi-urban and rural regions.
One of the key features of the scheme is its coverage of pre-existing diseases from day one, ensuring immediate relief for patients with long-term health conditions.

Health Minister Balbir Singh stated that the government’s vision is to make quality healthcare accessible to every citizen without financial burden. He emphasized that no family should have to choose between medical treatment and financial survival.
He added that the scheme is reshaping healthcare delivery by shifting it from a privilege to a guaranteed right.

For decades, many families in Punjab were pushed into debt due to rising medical expenses. The new system is helping reduce out-of-pocket expenditure and providing significant relief to economically weaker sections.
