Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Pratibha Samman Ceremony organised by Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan at the Government Secondary School in Roorkee, Haridwar district, where he honoured talented students and highlighted the importance of education in nation-building.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised students for their dedication and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence while contributing to the development of society and the nation.
CM Dhami Highlights GI Tags for Uttarakhand Products
During the event, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke about the Uttarakhand government’s efforts to preserve and promote the state’s cultural heritage, traditional crafts and indigenous products.
He stated that 27 products from Uttarakhand have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags, helping local artisans, farmers and handicraft workers gain wider recognition in domestic and international markets.
According to the Chief Minister, GI recognition not only strengthens the identity of Uttarakhand’s traditional products but also creates better income opportunities, expands market access and supports employment generation across the state.
Education and Talent Development Remain a Priority
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasised that nurturing young talent is essential for building a stronger future. He said educational institutions play an important role in shaping responsible citizens who can contribute positively to the country’s progress.
He encouraged students to combine academic excellence with moral values and social responsibility while pursuing their career goals.

Earlier Address at Guru Ravidas Birth Anniversary Workshop
Before the Roorkee programme, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a state-level workshop under the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan organised in Dehradun to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj.
Paying tribute to the revered saint, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described Guru Ravidas as a symbol of equality, humanity and social harmony. He said the saint’s teachings continue to inspire people to reject discrimination and embrace justice and compassion.
Dhami noted that Guru Ravidas believed an individual’s identity should be determined by character and actions rather than caste or social status. He also referred to the saint’s famous message, “Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga,” describing it as a timeless lesson on inner purity and sincere devotion.
Vision of Inclusive Development
The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Guru Ravidas’ vision of an equal and discrimination-free society remains relevant in modern India. He added that the concept of Begampura, representing a society free from suffering and inequality, continues to inspire inclusive governance.
He further stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several initiatives aimed at social harmony and the welfare of the last person in society reflect the values promoted by Guru Ravidas.
Chief Minister Dhami reiterated the Uttarakhand government’s commitment to promoting quality education, preserving cultural heritage and creating new opportunities for local communities while encouraging young citizens to become active participants in the state’s development journey.
