CM Nayab Singh Saini highlights Haryana’s plantation drive, with 1.52 crore saplings planted in 2025-26, and calls for greater public participation.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the 77th State-Level Haryana Van Mahotsav in Manesar as the chief guest and called upon citizens to actively participate in environmental conservation and plantation drives.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister urged people to plant trees that are suitable for the local climate. He said protecting the environment should not be viewed merely as a government programme but as a shared responsibility involving every citizen.
1.52 Crore Trees Planted in 2025-26
During the Haryana Van Mahotsav, CM Nayab Singh Saini highlighted the state’s plantation efforts and said that around 1.52 crore saplings were planted across Haryana during 2025-26.
He described plantation as more than simply putting trees in the ground, saying it represents a commitment to repay the debt owed to nature. The Chief Minister emphasised that such a commitment should gradually become a social value and eventually develop into a people-driven movement.
CM Saini’s Appeal to Citizens
The Chief Minister encouraged every resident to choose plants according to the climate and environmental conditions of their respective areas. He said greater public participation can make environmental conservation more effective and sustainable.
The message delivered at the Haryana Van Mahotsav focused on encouraging people to take ownership of the state’s green cover and contribute to creating a healthier environment for future generations.

Development Must Go Hand in Hand With Nature
Nayab Singh Saini also spoke about the need to maintain a balance between infrastructure development and environmental protection.
He said development should not mean leaving nature behind. In his view, meaningful development is one where better roads and infrastructure coexist with trees that provide shade and support the environment.
The Chief Minister’s remarks at the Haryana Van Mahotsav underlined the importance of integrating greenery into development planning rather than treating environmental conservation as a separate activity.
Green Haryana Is a Collective Responsibility
CM Saini stressed that maintaining Haryana’s greenery cannot be the responsibility of the government alone. Citizens also need to contribute by planting trees and taking care of them after plantation.
He said the objective should be to turn environmental responsibility into a habit and social value. Regular plantation and proper maintenance of trees can help strengthen Haryana’s green cover over the long term.
Focus on Sustainable Development
The Haryana Van Mahotsav provided a platform to reiterate the importance of sustainable development and community participation in environmental protection.
CM Nayab Singh Saini said Haryana’s progress should move forward without compromising its natural environment. The state’s greenery, he emphasised, is a responsibility shared by everyone.
Through the plantation drive and public participation, the government aims to encourage a stronger environmental consciousness and create a greener Haryana for present and future generations.
