CM Bhagwant Mann says Punjab road construction will follow suitable weather conditions, with the government prioritising quality and durable infrastructure.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has clarified the state government’s approach towards Punjab Road Construction, saying that road projects must be carried out at the right time to maintain durability and quality.
Responding to questions raised by the opposition in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, CM Bhagwant Mann said that the concerned departments have to carefully assess weather conditions before starting roadwork. According to him, the timing of construction plays an important role in determining the final quality of a road.
Why weather matters in road construction
Bhagwant Mann explained that road construction cannot be undertaken effectively during every season. He said the government avoids carrying out major roadwork during the monsoon because excessive rain and moisture can affect construction quality.
Similarly, winter conditions can also create challenges for road-building work. Therefore, the government has emphasised scheduling Punjab Road Construction projects according to suitable weather conditions rather than rushing work during unfavourable periods.

Quality over speed
The Chief Minister said the Punjab government is committed to providing roads that are strong, durable and beneficial to the public for a longer period.
He stressed that Punjab Road Construction is not simply about completing projects quickly. The government wants departments to follow appropriate technical considerations and ensure that construction work is carried out under conditions that support better results.
According to Mann, building a road at the wrong time could compromise its quality and potentially lead to maintenance problems later. This is why the timing of each project needs to be assessed carefully.
CM Mann responds to opposition questions
The issue of Punjab Road Construction came up during the Assembly proceedings after opposition members raised questions about road development in the state.
Responding to the concerns, CM Bhagwant Mann said road projects are being planned with consideration for weather conditions and construction standards. He maintained that the government is taking the necessary precautions to ensure that public infrastructure is not compromised.
