AAP leader Pankaj Tayde questioned relief fund distribution in Surat’s Khadipur Ward 27 and demanded transparent aid for rain-affected families.

Allegations over the distribution of financial assistance to families affected by heavy rain and waterlogging have emerged from Surat’s Ward No. 27, Khadipur. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Navsari Lok Sabha in-charge Pankaj Tayde has questioned the local system for allegedly failing to ensure fair and transparent distribution of relief assistance.

According to Tayde, several areas of Surat witnessed waterlogging after heavy rainfall, causing losses to local residents. Families reportedly suffered damage to household belongings, furniture, sofas, motorcycles and other essential items.

AAP Leader Raises Questions Over Relief Distribution

Pankaj Tayde said he met people affected by the waterlogging and heard their concerns regarding financial assistance. He alleged that some families who suffered significant losses have not received adequate relief.

Tayde further alleged that discrimination is taking place while assistance is being distributed in some housing societies. He claimed that people considered close to local BJP leaders or certain society office-bearers are allegedly receiving assistance, while families facing greater losses are being left out.

These allegations have been made by the AAP leader and affected residents. No response from the concerned BJP leaders or local administration was included in the statement.

‘Government Funds Should Reach Genuine Beneficiaries’

Tayde questioned the process through which government assistance is being delivered to affected residents. He argued that relief funds are meant for people who have suffered losses and should reach eligible beneficiaries without unnecessary intermediaries.

He alleged that the involvement of middlemen and local-level arrangements could create difficulties for genuine beneficiaries seeking assistance.

The AAP leader demanded that the government review the distribution mechanism and ensure that relief reaches families based on the actual extent of their losses.

Questions Over Digital Transparency

Pankaj Tayde also raised questions about the use of digital systems in the relief distribution process. He asked whether elected representatives or local political leaders should have a role in deciding who receives government assistance.

He questioned whether the principles associated with Digital India could be used to create a more transparent system for identifying beneficiaries, verifying damage and transferring assistance directly to eligible families.

According to Tayde, a digital and clearly documented process could help reduce complaints of favouritism and make the distribution mechanism more accountable.

Demand for Immediate Assistance to Affected Families

The AAP leader appealed to the government to conduct a fair assessment of losses suffered by residents of Khadipur and other waterlogging-affected areas of Surat.

He urged the authorities to provide financial assistance to families that have genuinely suffered damage and remove unnecessary intermediaries from the relief process.

Tayde said the priority should be to ensure that government assistance reaches the people who need it most, irrespective of their political or social connections.

Relief Distribution Remains a Key Concern

With residents reporting losses following waterlogging, the process of assessing damage and distributing assistance has become an important issue for affected families. The allegations raised by Pankaj Tayde have also brought attention to the need for transparency in the identification of beneficiaries and delivery of relief funds.
