AAP Gujarat chief Isudan Gadhvi launches the ‘School Theek Karo Gujarat’ campaign, raising concerns over teacher shortages and poor school infrastructure.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat president Isudan Gadhvi has announced the launch of the ‘School Theek Karo Gujarat’ campaign, targeting what he described as serious shortcomings in the state’s government school system. Addressing a press conference, Gadhvi said education is one of the most important foundations for the development of individuals, society and the country.

Isudan Gadhvi said a strong education system can provide children from poor and middle-class families with opportunities to build better futures and contribute to the progress of the state.

Isudan Gadhvi highlights education as AAP’s key priority

According to Gadhvi, education and healthcare have remained among the core priorities of the Aam Aadmi Party. He cited the party’s work in Delhi and Punjab while arguing that improvements in government schools can help students access quality education without putting additional financial pressure on their families.

Isudan Gadhvi also referred to Punjab’s education system and claimed that the state has made significant progress in school education. He said the focus should not merely be on constructing school buildings but also on ensuring better teaching and learning outcomes.

AAP raises questions over Gujarat government schools

Isudan Gadhvi alleged that Gujarat’s government school system is facing shortages of teachers and basic infrastructure. He claimed that around 9,000 schools in the state are operating with only one classroom, while more than 3,000 schools have only one teacher.

He further claimed that more than 25,000 teaching posts are vacant across Gujarat. According to him, a large number of candidates who have cleared TET and TAT examinations are still waiting for recruitment.

The AAP leader said teacher shortages are particularly affecting students in rural areas, where families may have limited alternatives for quality education.

Teacher shortage and infrastructure become key campaign issues

The proposed campaign will focus on identifying problems in government schools, including inadequate teaching staff, damaged buildings and a lack of basic facilities.

Isudan Gadhvi alleged that teachers are also assigned several non-academic responsibilities, which can reduce the time available for classroom teaching. He argued that teachers should primarily be able to concentrate on educating students.

He also claimed that inadequate facilities in government schools are forcing some middle-class and farming families to consider private schools despite the additional financial burden.

AAP launches helpline for school-related complaints

As part of the ‘School Theek Karo Gujarat’ campaign, AAP has announced a helpline number — 9512040404.

Isudan Gadhvi appealed to residents to record videos of government schools facing problems such as teacher shortages or damaged infrastructure and share them through the helpline. He said the party’s team would visit schools based on complaints received from the public.

The initiative is aimed at bringing local school-related problems into the public domain and putting pressure on authorities to address them.

Appeal to citizens and political parties

Isudan Gadhvi urged citizens, social organisations and people from other political parties to participate in the campaign, saying that the future of children should remain above political differences.

He also appealed to BJP workers to support efforts aimed at improving education in Gujarat. According to him, the campaign should become a broader public movement focused on government schools and children’s educational opportunities.

AAP promises legal support over school visits

Isudan Gadhvi further said that if a person faces legal action or an FIR for visiting a school to highlight its condition, the Aam Aadmi Party would provide legal assistance and pursue the matter through the courts.

He called on people across Gujarat to actively raise issues concerning government schools and said the campaign would seek to create greater public awareness about the condition of school infrastructure and staffing.

Education likely to remain a major political issue in Gujarat

With the ‘School Theek Karo Gujarat’ campaign, the AAP has positioned government school education as a major political issue in the state. The party plans to use complaints and videos submitted by citizens to highlight gaps in infrastructure, teacher availability and other facilities.

Gadhvi said Gujarat needs greater public participation to improve its education system and urged people to come together to protect the educational future of the state’s children.
