Rajasthan Senior Teacher Recruitment 2024: There is significant relief for 1,644 candidates selected under the Senior Teacher Recruitment 2024 in Rajasthan. The Directorate of Secondary Education has decided to count the 44-day orientation programme conducted at District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) as part of the teachers’ service period.

Following the decision, the first appointment date of the selected senior teachers will be considered as July 6, and they will receive applicable service benefits from the same date.

44-Day Orientation Period to Count as Service

Under the Rajasthan Senior Teacher Recruitment , selected candidates were sent to DIET offices in their respective divisions before being posted to schools. The orientation programme was conducted from July 6 to August 18.

During these 44 days, the selected candidates attended the programme regularly as part of the departmental process. After the completion of the orientation, joint directors issued school allotment orders on August 18, following which the teachers were sent to their respective schools.

However, some schools recorded August 19 as the date of joining after the teachers assumed charge. This created uncertainty over whether the 44 days spent at DIET would be counted as part of their official service.

First Appointment Date Fixed as July 6

The latest departmental order has now resolved the issue for the selected candidates. Under the Rajasthan Senior Teacher Recruitment 2024, July 6 has been fixed as the first appointment date for the 1,644 teachers.

This means the period between July 6 and August 18 will be treated as part of their service. The applicable benefits associated with their appointment will also be calculated from July 6.

The decision provides clarity to teachers who had completed the mandatory orientation programme before receiving their school postings.

Teacher Association Raised the Issue

The issue was taken up by the Elementary Secondary Teachers Association (RESTA), Rajasthan. The organisation’s state president, Mohar Singh Salavad, reportedly approached the Education Minister and the Director of Secondary Education, requesting that the 44-day orientation period be included in the teachers’ service.

The association argued that the candidates had attended the DIET programme as part of the official recruitment and appointment process. Therefore, the period spent in the orientation programme needed to be recognised for service-related purposes.

Department Issues Written Instructions

Following the representation, District Education Officer (Appointment), Secondary Education, Bikaner, Arvind Vyas, issued written instructions to the Joint Director, Jaipur.

The order directs that the first appointment date and applicable benefits of the selected candidates should be determined from July 6. Necessary action has also been instructed accordingly.

With this clarification, the uncertainty surrounding the 44-day period has been removed for the 1,644 selected teachers.

Relief for 1,644 Selected Teachers

The decision under the Rajasthan Senior Teacher Recruitment 2024 will benefit all 1,644 selected senior teachers across the state. Their orientation period at DIET will now be recognised as part of their service rather than being excluded because their school joining was recorded later.

The development is particularly relevant for candidates whose school joining documents showed August 19, despite their participation in the departmental orientation programme beginning July 6.
