UP CM Yogi Adityanath highlights UP women empowerment schemes covering girls’ education, maternity benefits, free bus travel, property rights and pensions.
UP Women Empowerment Schemes: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has highlighted a series of government welfare initiatives aimed at improving women’s safety, dignity, education and financial security. During Sharadiya Navratri, he described these programmes as important steps towards building a stronger society by supporting women at different stages of life.
In a post on X on Tuesday, the Chief Minister connected his message with the worship of Goddess Chandraghanta, the deity associated with the third day of Navratri. He emphasised that women’s safety, respect and self-esteem are essential for the state’s overall development. The UP women empowerment schemes highlighted in his message cover girls’ education, marriage assistance, maternity benefits, household amenities, property rights, transportation and pensions.
CM Yogi Highlights Welfare Schemes for Women
Adityanath said the state government’s initiatives are designed to address different needs of women, from childhood through old age. The programmes mentioned in his post aim to improve access to education, provide social assistance and create better living conditions for women and their families.
Among the initiatives he highlighted were the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign and the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana. These programmes focus on the welfare of girls and supporting their education and future opportunities.
The Chief Minister also referred to the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, which provides assistance for eligible couples’ marriages. He included the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, which offers financial support to eligible women during motherhood, among the initiatives intended to strengthen social welfare.

Clean Cooking Fuel and Sanitation Also Part of the Agenda
The welfare measures cited by the Chief Minister also extend to essential household facilities. He mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which supports access to clean cooking fuel, along with sanitation initiatives that promote household toilet facilities.
Access to these basic amenities can help improve household living conditions and support women’s health, dignity and everyday well-being. The government’s stated approach brings together social assistance and essential services as part of a broader effort to improve women’s quality of life.
The UP women empowerment schemes highlighted by the Chief Minister therefore include not only education and financial assistance but also measures intended to make daily life safer and more convenient for women.
Property Rights, Free Bus Travel and Pension Benefits
Adityanath also referred to the Gharouni initiative, associated with providing property documentation to eligible rural households. Such documentation can help strengthen ownership records and provide greater security to families.
Another measure mentioned in his post was lifelong free bus travel for women above 60 years of age. He also cited old-age pension support as an important component of social protection.
These initiatives address different aspects of women’s lives, including mobility, access to services and financial support during old age. Together, they form part of the broader welfare agenda that the Chief Minister described in his Navratri message.
CM Yogi Contrasts Current Approach With Pre-2017 Period
In his post, the Chief Minister compared the current government’s approach with the period before 2017. He alleged that lawlessness during that period had adversely affected women’s safety and dignity, and claimed that the empowerment of politically influential families had received greater priority than women’s welfare.
These statements reflect the Chief Minister’s political assessment of the previous period. His message focused on the current government’s stated commitment to women’s security, respect and access to welfare programmes.
Goddess Chandraghanta’s Message Linked to Women’s Dignity
The Chief Minister’s Navratri message drew on the symbolism of Goddess Chandraghanta, who is worshipped on the festival’s third day. He associated the goddess with courage, radiance and dignity, connecting these qualities with the importance of protecting and empowering women.
Adityanath said a prosperous society depends on ensuring that women can live with safety, respect and self-confidence. His message presented women’s welfare as a broad governance priority rather than the responsibility of a single scheme.
The UP women empowerment schemes mentioned in the post span education, marriage assistance, maternity care, clean cooking fuel, sanitation, property documentation, transport and pensions. However, the Chief Minister’s post did not provide new beneficiary figures, scheme-wise budget allocations or updated implementation statistics.
The initiatives highlighted by him reflect the state government’s stated focus on women’s welfare and social security. Their overall impact will depend on effective implementation, awareness among eligible beneficiaries and access to the benefits provided under the respective programmes.
