Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi has announced that a two-day national-level Vayo Samman National Campaign and Vayo Sarathi Departmental Summit will be organised in New Delhi on November 18 and 19. The summit will bring together ministers and senior government officials from across the country to discuss social welfare, disability empowerment and improvements in public welfare programmes.
Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar will inaugurate the event, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the concluding session.
The announcement was made by Krishan Kumar Bedi during a video conference in Chandigarh on November 4, where he reviewed the preparations and discussed the key objectives of the upcoming national-level meeting.
11,720 Suggestions Received from States Across India
During the review meeting, Krishan Kumar Bedi informed that 11,720 active suggestions had been received from different states for the departmental summit. These suggestions will be examined comprehensively to identify important issues and develop effective strategies for future implementation.
The Vayo Samman National Campaign will provide an opportunity to assess existing welfare programmes and identify areas that require greater attention. The feedback received through the Panch Nivesh and Inclusive Resolution framework will also be reviewed to strengthen social security and support mechanisms.
According to the minister, the recommendations received from different states could help improve the delivery of welfare services, particularly for senior citizens, vulnerable communities and persons with disabilities.
Four Major Themes to Be Discussed at the Summit
The two-day departmental summit will focus on four major areas related to social welfare and empowerment.
These include:
1. Nasha Mukt Bharat: Strengthening efforts to prevent substance abuse and expanding awareness and rehabilitation initiatives.
2. Scholarship Support for Students: Improving scholarship programmes and ensuring better educational opportunities for students.
3. Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities: Promoting early identification of disabilities and ensuring access to suitable facilities, benefits and support services.
4. Accessible and Developed India: Strengthening initiatives aimed at creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all citizens.
The Vayo Samman National Campaign and departmental summit will provide a common platform to discuss these priorities and encourage coordinated action among states.

Special Focus on Disability Welfare and Social Security
Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi highlighted that this is the first time a departmental summit of this nature is being organised at the national level. Two of its four key themes are directly connected with social welfare, while the remaining two focus on empowering persons with disabilities and improving accessibility.
He stressed the importance of identifying persons with disabilities at an early stage and ensuring that they receive the appropriate government benefits and facilities. The objective is to help them become more independent and participate actively in society.
The discussions will also cover measures to address practical challenges faced by persons with disabilities and improve the implementation of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.
The Vayo Samman National Campaign will also help states share their experiences and identify effective approaches to strengthen support systems for disadvantaged sections of society.
Ministers and Senior Officials from All States to Participate
The national-level summit is expected to witness participation from ministers and senior government officials representing states across India. Their participation will help create a coordinated approach towards improving social welfare policies and disability-related services.
Bedi said the summit would play an important role in expanding the reach of government initiatives and ensuring that welfare programmes deliver meaningful results at the grassroots level.
He also emphasised that suggestions received from different states would be used to develop future strategies and strengthen existing support systems.
During the video conference, Additional Chief Secretary G. Anupama, Director Mukul Kumar and several other senior officials were also present.
The Vayo Samman National Campaign and Vayo Sarathi Departmental Summit on November 18-19 are expected to provide an important opportunity for the Centre and states to work together on social welfare, inclusive development and disability empowerment.
Through these discussions, the government aims to strengthen public welfare initiatives and build a more inclusive support system for people across the country.
