Is going to be managed by RS MP Pathak
The Aam Aadmi Party’s Jalandhar election campaign would not be spearheaded by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The rationale behind CM’s absence
The outcome of this by-election will undoubtedly affect the political prospects of the candidate in the lead. As the campaign’s leader, it could therefore be a good strategic move to keep the CM at a distance.
MLAs and ministers are a team.
Up to 23 leaders, comprising MPs, ministers, and MLAs, have been assigned to oversee 23 Jalandhar West wards.
Dr. Baljit Kaur, Lal Chand Kataruchak, Kuldeep Dhaliwal, and Laljit Singh Bhullar have been selected as the campaign’s leading ministers.
MPs Gurmeet Singh, just elected Meet Hayer; Malvinder Kang will run for office as well.
Even though he will be the face of contender Mahinder Bhagat’s campaign, it also features 23 other prominent figures, such as two MPs, four ministers, and MLAs.
The ruling party has chosen that Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, the organization’s general secretary, will oversee the campaign overall. Mann will only canvass in the last stages of the campaign.
This choice may have been made strategically, given that, less than a month after the ruling party lost 10 of the 13 Lok Sabha seats, the outcome of the byelection will be viewed as a referendum on the efficacy of the administration. The candidate heading the campaign will undoubtedly face political consequences based on their electoral performance in this by-election. As the campaign’s leader, it could therefore be a good strategic move to keep the CM at a distance.
It is become a question of prestige for the ruling Aam Aadmi Party to defend its Jalandhar West seat in the July 10 bypoll. The resignation of former AAP MLA Sheetal Angural, who left the party and joined the BJP, made the election necessary. The party will do every effort to reclaim the seat.
The 23 leaders—MPs, ministers, and MLAs—have been assigned to oversee 23 Jalandhar West wards. Kuldeep Dhaliwal, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Dr. Baljit Kaur, and Lal Chand Kataruchak are the ministers selected to spearhead the campaign, together with newly elected Members of Parliament Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer and Malvinder Kang.
According to sources, each firm or board chairman has been tasked with conducting a campaign in each of the 181 booths. All of these individuals have been requested to set up camp in Jalandhar between June 22 and July 8, which is the last day of the campaign.
