AAP condemns the arrest of Youth Wing Secretary Shravan Joshi in Surat, calling it a BJP-led political conspiracy. Party vows to support activists and uphold democratic rights.
The arrest of AAP Youth Wing Secretary Shravan Joshi has sparked a strong reaction from the Aam Aadmi Party in Surat. Party officials have alleged that the arrest was part of a political conspiracy orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to suppress AAP’s growing influence in the city.
Shravan Joshi, who has been actively addressing public grievances and opposing alleged misconduct by certain BJP leaders, was taken into custody by the SOG police in coordination with Limbayat police. According to AAP Surat City President Dharmesh Bhanderi, Joshi’s arrest followed his recent protests against illegal sale of beef near the Dadamandir area in Godadra Extension, Limbayat. Joshi had joined local residents and housing societies to voice opposition against the open sale of meat, which allegedly provoked BJP leaders.
Speaking to the media, Dharmesh Bhanderi said, “Shravan Joshi has been targeted through a false FIR and police action in an attempt to intimidate AAP activists. He has always worked for the people and stood against the alleged misdeeds of powerful BJP figures. The BJP-led conspiracy is evident from the way corrupt officials were used to entrap him.”

Bhanderi further stated, “AAP will not allow its leaders to be harassed under political pressure. While any wrongdoing will be dealt with according to law, no activist should face threats or false accusations to suppress political dissent. We stand firmly with Shravan Joshi and reaffirm that AAP will never be intimidated by the authoritarian tactics of the BJP or by police misconduct.”
He added that public support for AAP in the Limbayat region has been growing steadily, with citizens increasingly turning away from the BJP. “This arrest shows the fear among BJP leaders due to AAP’s growing influence. We call on the people of Surat to remain united and support their rights and constitutional safeguards,” Bhanderi said.
The AAP leadership emphasized that the party will continue to protect its activists and fight for justice against all forms of political harassment, ensuring that democratic rights are upheld in Gujarat.
