AAP delegation to meet Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel on December 16 over 10 farmers’ demands, including MSP, compensation, free electricity, and withdrawal of police cases.
A delegation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will meet Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on December 16 to discuss farmers’ demands and grievances. Speaking to the media, AAP Gujarat president Isudan Gardhvi highlighted that the BJP government has repeatedly ignored farmers’ concerns, prompting the party to launch statewide protests and campaigns.
10 Farmers’ Demands Highlighted
Gardhvi said that over the past months, AAP conducted nine large-scale farmer mahapanchayats and farmer justice meetings in more than 8,000 villages across North, Central Gujarat, and Saurashtra. The party also initiated a signature campaign where over 80,000 farmers endorsed ten critical demands.
The demands include:
-
Immediate abolition of the “Kadda Pratha” system, with strict action and imprisonment for violators.
-
Freedom for farmers to sell their crops outside APMC markets, including warehouses or factories, without government pressure.
-
Compensation of ₹50,000 per hectare for crops affected by unseasonal rainfall, similar to Punjab’s model, to be disbursed within a month.
-
Direct and timely payment to dairy farmers for price differences by all associations.
-
12 hours of free electricity daily for farmers.
-
Withdrawal of all police cases related to Huddad and Sabar Dairy movements, and immediate release of jailed farmers.
-
Procurement of all crops at MSP (Minimum Support Price) by the government.
-
Timely and adequate supply of fertilizers to farmers.
-
Clearing outstanding payments to sugarcane farmers from mills and restarting closed sugar mills.
-
Commencement of cotton procurement by CCI from October 1 instead of December.

Commitment to Farmer Welfare
Gardhvi emphasized that the AAP delegation, including party MLAs, will present these demands directly to the Chief Minister at 12:00 PM on December 16. He warned that if the BJP government fails to implement these demands, AAP will launch a statewide farmers’ movement.
He added, “We have prepared detailed data and statistics to show how these 10 demands can be practically implemented. Our campaign ensures that the voice of farmers is heard, and their rights are protected.”
Background
Over the last few years, AAP has actively campaigned for farmers’ rights in Gujarat, organizing mahapanchayats, signature campaigns, and justice meetings to raise awareness about issues such as unfair procurement practices, delayed payments, and systemic negligence. The party’s intervention led to the official ban on the Kadda Pratha, showcasing their commitment to farmers’ welfare.
As the delegation prepares to meet CM Bhupendra Patel, the spotlight is now on the BJP government to respond to these pressing demands, which directly affect the livelihoods of thousands of farmers across Gujarat.
