AAP Gujarat President Isudan Gadhvi highlights three months of imprisonment for party leaders Rajubhai Karpara and Praveen Ram after Botad farmers’ protest. Gadhvi urges farmers not to forget their sacrifices ahead of local elections.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious concerns over the ongoing plight of farmers in Gujarat, as AAP Gujarat State President Isudan Gadhvi highlighted the incarceration of key party leaders following a farmers’ protest in Botad. In a video message, Gadhvi addressed the situation, drawing attention to the events that took place on October 10, when AAP leaders Rajubhai Karpara and Praveen Ram went to Botad to support farmers.
Farmers’ Protest and Police Action
Isudan Gadhvi explained that the protest was initiated to stop exploitation of farmers by BJP-backed middlemen controlling the APMC market, which had left farmers vulnerable to widespread financial losses. “Rajubhai Karpara and Praveen Ram went to Botad with hope and determination to protect the interests of farmers. Today, three months later, they are still in jail,” said Gadhvi.
The AAP chief alleged that BJP authorities conducted a baton charge in Haddad village, brutally beating farmers, raiding homes, and arresting 85 farmers, including Karpara and Praveen Ram. “It was a classic case of injustice—the ones fighting for farmers’ rights ended up behind bars, while those responsible for exploitation went unpunished,” he said.
Message to Farmers Ahead of Local Elections
With district and taluka panchayat elections approaching, Gadhvi urged farmers not to forget the sacrifices of those who stood up for them. “Farmers endured violence and oppression while fighting for their rights. Will you forget those who faced lathis for your cause? I am confident that Gujarat’s 5.4 million farmers will remember their courage,” he emphasized.
AAP’s Stand on Farmer Rights
Isudan Gadhvi reiterated that the AAP remains committed to protecting farmers, ensuring transparency in agricultural markets, and holding officials accountable for misuse of power. The party has consistently demanded that leaders who exploit farmers’ interests face strict action, and that protests advocating farmers’ rights are treated fairly under the law.
This message comes at a time when Gujarat’s local elections are intensifying, with farmers’ welfare emerging as a critical issue for voters. Analysts suggest that AAP’s proactive stance on farmers’ issues could influence electoral outcomes in several key districts, including Botad and surrounding areas.
